E-Mail Troubleshooting

 

I can't send or receive e-mail and am getting a POP3 error?

  1. Open Outlook Express

  2. Click on Tools at the top of the screen, then Accounts

  3. Click on the Mail tab, then Properties

  4. Click on the Server tab

  5. The Incoming mail server should be mail.swnebr.net and the Outgoing mail server should be set to smtp.swnebr.net

  6. Restart the computer

How do I block a certain sender?

  1. Open Outlook Express

  2. Highlight the email with the address you want blocked

  3. Click on Message at the top of your screen

  4. Then click on Block Sender

When I log on to my e-mail I get the error message "Cannot find server mail.swnebr.net"?

  1. Open Outlook Express

  2. Click on Tools at the top of the screen, then Accounts

  3. Click on the Mail tab, then Properties

  4. Click on the Server tab

  5. Make sure the incoming server is mail.swnebr.net and the outgoing server is smtp.swnebr.net or smtp2.swnebr.net

  6. Click on Connections

  7. Make sure "always connect to this account using" is check-marked and the white box says Pinpoint. 

    If all these settings are correct, click OK and go back to internet accounts, remove the mail server and any old mail account not in use:
    1.  Highlight Pinpoint
    2.  Click Remove
    3.  Click Add, then Mail
    4.  Follow steps for setting up e-mail

How do I add an identity to my outlook express?

  1. Open Outlook Express

  2. Click on File then Add new identities

  3. Give the identity a name to separate it from the main one

  4. Click OK, and you should then get a message asking "Would you like to switch to this identity now?"  Click Yes

  5. It will then bring up a wizard for setting up a new e-mail account. 

  6. Follow the wizard steps to set up the subsequent e-mail address.

When I log onto my e-mail my username and password keep popping up?

  1. Open Outlook Express

  2. Click on Tools at the top of the screen, then Accounts

  3. Click on the Mail tab, then Properties

  4. Click on the Servers tab

  5. Make sure the incoming server is mail.swnebr.net and the outgoing server is smtp.swnebr.net

  6. Make sure the username and password are correct, and "remember password" box is check-marked

  7. Click on the Connections tab

  8. Make sure "always connect to this account using" is check-marked and hte white box says Pinpoint.  Click OK

    If all these settings are correct, click OK and go back to internet accounts, remove the mail server and any old mail account not in use:
    1.  Highlight Pinpoint
    2.  Click Remove
    3.  Click Add, then Mail
    4.  Follow steps for setting up e-mail
